Wandering in the world’s smallest big city!

Undeniably the ‘world’s smallest big city’, Aarhus is not only the second largest city in Denmark but also a one that is simple to handle. The 3 hour journey from Copenhagen to Aarhus is as pleasant as described by your travel agent. There are a few cruise ships dropping you at the location too. The small but beautiful land where the Vikings settled in the eighth century is known for its fun and frolic lifestyle. The center of attraction! Do not miss the historical road that was built over the Aarhus River, now a fashionable people’s precinct. This place in Aarhus was created by the locals in 1980’s by craftily canalizing the river and that’s this narrow piece of land that enables the city stay cheerful throughout the year.

Though tiny, Aarhus has enough to convince its visitors, one such is the enthralling museum that stays as the evidence of years under Nazi rule during World War II. The police station of Aarhus used by the Nazis as their headquarters throughout the war has remained the place of persecutions and executions. You can get to know a lot about the battle and its dark side here. Just wandering through the streets of Aarhus is all the more amusing, though tiny the city is tidy with bustling boulevards, stunning museums, an alluring café lined canal and an outstanding university. The breathtaking ‘Your rainbow panorama’! Your rainbow panorama on the roof of ARoS is a magnificent piece of work where you have entrée to the roof-top that’s spherical, an outsized glass footpath, and measuring about 52 metres in span. This is created in the colour spectrum, by means of stairways and elevators. You can have a 360 degree view of the city right from the rounded panoramic pathway. Jeez! It was awe-inspiring! The November Nordic Nights! You can learn a lot about the Nordic history here out at the 'Nordic roots' in the Moesgaard Museum. The nights of November opens the museum for you even after its closing time. You can get into the museum to witness, experience, obsess and heed all that is Nordic. The Viking Age is brought back to stages these nights. Don’t miss this experience as the museum's exhibits are reborn at the hands of great Danish story-tellers and musicians.

The ARoS Art Museum, The Concert Hall at Aarhus and the markets are all must visit locations. And it would be unfair to miss out the Christmas celebrations in the city. Like any other city in Denmark, Aarhus is also known for its unique Christmas environment. The city on the whole is full of celebrations, events and concerts during the festive season, the lighting of the giant Christmas tree is a celebration by itself. And I was lucky to be a part of the celebrations last year, and I swear it was something out of the ordinary that I experienced out there! Staying too is not a difficult task as you can find accommodations at all ranges, but ensure you book it in prior when you visit during a festive season. Hope you have added Cheap Flights to Aarhus to your list this time ! Will catch you next time with another alluring location. Thanks Team – Travelheyday
